Volta magazine utilizes one of the most incredible displays of information design. The layouts that are utilized throughout are strong, clear, concise and it has an incredible aesthetic throughout. Although the magazine does have nice layouts, the illustrations and information graphics are the highlight of this publication. They carry a high-contrast style that adds a distinct flavor the design.

Volture Magazine
Volture Magazine is a publication designed by Daniel Siim as a independent cultural magazine. Although the spreads are not complex, it manages to use a strong grayscale. It adds a lot of depth to the magazine and gives it a common thematic experience throughout. The simple grid allows for the text to be easily legible and concise. The magazine does not have any extraneous information and ornamental effects. However the publication shines through with its use of display type as well as the section heads are nicely placed as well. –Michael Leng
Real Dutch Design
This is my favorite publication I have seen in quite some time. It is a highlight of many famous dutch designers and the layout is incredible. The work published throughout is top-notch and the craftsmanship is stellar as well. It utilizes a strong grid, and it utilizes a nice plastic cover area. The colors work well together and they stack with other issues. –Michael Leng
The Jazz 09 Journal
This Publication was designed by Atelier Martino. It utilizes a very clean layout and strong typography. I found this browsing through Behance and his use of decorated rules and margins allow for a nice look. The clean aesthetic is very appealing and the format allows for the information to be upheld. I often browse Behance in order to find inspiration and witness other great designers, and this particular design is one such example. –Michael Leng
gallery
gallery magazine is a publication dedicated to presenting the best new graphic design from around the world. It includes packaging, branding, exhibition design, web design, photography etc. Gallery is more of an image driven magazine but they lay out their images in a strict grid that looks interesting. A two column layout is used when there is enough body text.—Melisa Ozkan
Lula
Lula Magazine is an homage to vintage inspired fashion and photography. Originating in London, the magazine is everything Urban Outfitters aspires to be, but is not. The magazine also primarily features models on it's covers instead of film stars or musicians. The model woman for Lula is described as being someone who uses a vintage camera, wear's 70s inspired skirts, her wallpaper in her apartment is peeling away put filled with polaroids and love poems. The layouts are collage inspired, but chic. And all of the images are beautiful. The captions below each spread make the whole thing seem like an old sketchbook or your mom's old album.-Belinda Hale
