The Learners by Chip Kidd

The Learners is a novel written by graphic designer Chip Kidd. The book is the sequel of t=his previous book The Cheese Monkeys. The Learners is a story of a young graphic designer fresh out of college in his first job at an advertising firm in Connecticut.
The book was designed by, of course, Chip Kidd. The book breaks the boundaries of legible text. The from of the book has several illustrations and wacky type games to be able to read the text. The story layout had large margins, that makes the text look like it was in a bible. This gave me the impression that the book might be like the graphic designers bible.

This video shows the book design:

Foam

Foam Magazine is a quarterly magazine based on photographers and photography. Because the images in a magazine mean the most to me, I find this particular magazine very beautiful. The content varies from documentary to fashion photography and features up and coming photographers. Each year one of the issues is dedicated to emerging talent, which is also pretty amazing for a well-known magazine to do. The cover girls are pretty typical- ranging from young actresses models, and also photographers. The composition of the photographs and the general layout of the magazine is done very creatively and a-symmetrically, which is something hard for me to do personally, so I appreciate this aspect of it. - Belinda Hale
