COLORS Magazine

I recently did a research paper on Tibor Kalman and discovered his involvment in this magazine. He was a designer hyper focused on using design purely to send a message to the viewers for the greater good. In the 70's and 80's he covered topics such as AIDS and racism, which pushed boundries in society where subjects like this were not discussed. He worked with Oliviero Toscani on photo based advertisments for United Colors of Benetton which were extremely controversial. Benetton made Kalman editor and chief of his new publication Colors Magazine, where these ideas went further.

Colors magazine is a multilingual quarterly magazine developed in Italy by Fabrica. Each issue has a theme and covers the topic from an international perspective. The magazine is known for its photo essays and features a sardonic point of view (similar to Benetton advertising). —Lauren Hodges
