Details - Magazine Presentation

Details is an American magazine published monthly. It was founded in 1982 and is targeted towards primarily young men. The magazine’s articles cover primarily fashion and style related topics, but each issue generally has several articles about celebrity, business, media and other niche topics focused specifically towards certain types of men. While there has been constant debate whether Details is targeted towards gay or straight men (due to the flamboyant and sometimes homoerotic nature of many of their articles and images), the magazine’s editors claim that their main focus is the heterosexual male.

In the FoB the articles are short and utilize multiple grids in one page to structure and compact information in order to conserve space.

In the well, articles follow a 3-column grid, include pictures, and much longer articles with more text as well as pull-quotes.

In the BoB articles are short (mostly 1 page) again, and are somewhat more playful. –Alex Bulloch
