The publication I have chosen, Uncanny X-Force was selected due to its interesting release pattern. In addition to the print's original run, comics occasionally release limited edition “variant” covers. This added aesthetic creates another variable in the collection aspect of comics without compromising the actual narrative and comic itself. This also decreases the amount of certain covers and allows them to be more valuable, while still releasing the standard print run in a mass-produced and affordable manner. At first glance the disparity in the two covers is great enough to question whether or not they belong to the same publication. Nearly every aspect of the series’ run has been compromised, such changes include the logo, to the characters portrayed on the cover. This change in dynamic allows for the variant covers to become very flexible and spontaneous in their creation. —Michael Leng
