Glamour

I chose Glamour Magazine, because I found it to be one of the most balanced and well designed magazines in the mainstream fashion publication industry. The photography, as mentioned in class—is very cohesive and helps to bring the magazine together as a whole. There are five main sections in Glamour: Fashion, Beauty, Love, Real Stories & Health which are each given a title page at different intervals throughout the magazine as the first image indicates below. This unique feature makes the magazine easier to navigate. The feature articles are never blandly designed, in the article featuring Reese Witherspoon below the Q & A is divided into the four column design the continues throughout the publication. I love their font choice, there is always a balance between flourished and straightforward text—the drop caps are like an extra image on the page, rather than part of the body copy. The spreads are never overwhelming, and always balanced between image and text, and the content offers a variety of information.—Belinda Hale
